Why India?

Having opened our first office in India in 2000, Lam has been proud to be part of India’s thriving technology community for more than 20 years. India’s blazing IT revolution and explosion in knowledge-based industries would not be possible without semiconductors. All major chipmakers use Lam’s equipment in various critical steps in the manufacturing process. So, in a sense, Lam Research has played a key role in advancing India’s technology sector. The new India Center for Engineering makes that connection more tangible.

Our new facility helps position Lam at the forefront of India’s expansion in the semiconductor component industry, which is expected to exceed $300 billion by 2026, according to the India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA). The electronic system design and manufacturing (ESDM) sector will play a major role in the country’s overall growth, from sourcing components to design manufacturing.

With nearly three million students enrolled in engineering schools, India affords Lam the opportunity to tap into its deep engineering talent pool, collaborate with nearby top universities on cutting-edge research, and scale operations to meet growing customer requirements.

Faster Solutions

The India Center for Engineering will enable the success of our customers globally by improving speed to solution. ICE will leverage our highly skilled workforce to strengthen our ability to deliver complex technologies to our customers faster.

By enabling the development of advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment hardware and software, Lam’s India Center for Engineering will accelerate Lam’s delivery of world-class products and services while leveraging India’s growing electronics and manufacturing design industry. That’s why Lam Research is investing in India.

Now, it’s up to us to prove it through the great work carried out at this facility. I look forward to keeping you posted as we continue to accelerate semiconductor innovation in India.
