When children eat better, they learn better. That was the driving force behind the Lam Research Heart & Soles run at its inception back in 2014 by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation and the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

At the time, the mission was to raise enough money to fund salad bars in several Silicon Valley and Santa Cruz County K-12 schools as an effort to introduce children to healthy eating habits, help reduce obesity and promote overall health—making them better learners. That initial program was a huge success and generated over $400,000 to fund 195 salad bars in local schools.

Lam is proud to continue supporting the expanded mission and commitment to “Healthy Students” in the community. Funds raised through the 2021 run for multiple beneficiary partners will be used to promote increased physical activity and access to healthy foods among the student populations they serve.

Want to help keep kids healthy and active?

Register to run by yourself, with the family, and if your dog likes to go with you, there’s even a special doggie dash so everyone can participate. We’ve been cooped up at home all winter, and a virtual run or walk at your convenience is the perfect opportunity to get some fresh air and sunshine. And if you aren’t much of a runner or walker, that’s okay too. You can make a donation directly on the 2021 Heart & Soles website and show your support for keeping kids strong and healthy while they play and learn.
