Lam Research will join fellow industry leaders from the extended electronics supply chain in a range of talks at the SEMICON West 2022 hybrid conference later this month. During the 52nd annual event, taking place from July 12-14, Lam will participate in a variety of sessions and panels to discuss key topics that will shape the future semiconductor industry, including the technologies that will enable the next memory nodes, innovations to accelerate sustainability, and creating a pipeline for future talent.

Lam is proud to continue our platinum sponsorship of SEMICON West, in addition to sponsorship of the Workforce Development Pavilion onsite in the Moscone Center. This year’s event is hybrid, with a virtual conference online and in person at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Lam speakers at this year’s SEMICON West conference, include:

Hiring Heroes: A Path from Military to Civilian Career
Speaker: Matthew Kolb, Managing Director, Installed Base Service & Support Operations
Date: Tuesday, July 12, 3:30 – 4:30 PM
Location: Workforce Development Stage, Moscone South
Session overview: Many companies are eager to hire veterans because of their discipline and work ethic. Transitioning military and veterans also bring valuable technical skills. However, transitioning from the military to civilian life can pose its challenges. Companies may not know how to approach the military community and support veterans once hired. Learn why veterans make ideal employees and how to tap into this diverse talent pool.

Evolution of MEMS Manufacturing Processes
Speaker: Michelle Bourke, Senior Director, Customer Business Support Group Strategic Marketing
Date: Wednesday, July 13, 10:40 – 11:00 AM
Location: TechTALKS Stage, Moscone South
Session overview: Sensorization of our digital world is continuing at an ever-increasing pace, improving our infrastructure, manufacturing productivity and quality of life. This session will present a few of the latest trends in our increasingly sensorized world.

Using Virtual Metrology, Visual Process Models, Machine Learning, and Equipment Intelligence to Address Next Node Technology Challenges
Speaker: David Fried, Vice President, Computational Products
Date: Wednesday, July 13, 2:25 – 2:45 PM
Location: Meet the Experts Stage, Smart Manufacturing Pavilion, Moscone South
Session overview: In this talk, we will discuss innovative concepts to address some of these next node metrology challenges. We will review the concepts of virtual fabrication and virtual metrology, and how they can be used in conjunction with conventional metrology to better support defect analysis and yield optimization at the latest technology nodes. We will also discuss how physical metrology can be used to calibrate a virtual process model, along with how a virtual process model can be used to validate physical metrology measurements made on a 3D NAND device.

Sustainability Summit: Net Zero Fab – Decarbonization Innovations of Collaboration Across the Supply Chain
Speaker: Tae Won Kim, Vice President, Etch Productivity and Equipment Intelligence
Date: Wednesday, July 13, 3:25 – 3:30 PM
Location: Room 20, Moscone North
Session overview: Net zero fab: decarbonization innovations and the importance of collaboration across the supply chain.

Beyond EUV: DTCO and Material Optimization for 3nm and Beyond
Speaker: David Fried, Vice President, Computational Products
Date: Thursday, July 14, 11:15 – 11:35 AM
Location: TechTALKS Stage, Moscone South
Session overview: During this seminar, we will discuss holistic patterning and co-optimized integration schemes that can decrease variability and defects, while minimizing patterning and processing costs. We will review the challenges discovered in earlier node transitions, along with the future roles of predictive process modeling, variability control, material optimization and tool control on next-generation scaling efforts. We will specifically discuss “scaling boosters” such as advanced EUV resists, and how advanced lithography will need to be combined with materials engineering to improve patterning control and lower stochastic-induced defects. The presentation will conclude by discussing the future of DTCO and material optimization on devices at the 3nm node and beyond.

The Global Competition for Talent
Speaker: Ohad Zaslavsky, Head of Global Talent Acquisition and Workforce Mobility
Date: Thursday, July 14, 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Workforce Development Stage, Development Pavilion, Moscone South
Session overview: With the ongoing demand for semiconductors, the great resignation and other world events, the talent landscape is unlike any other time. What does the post-pandemic new normal look like? How do we evolve to attract candidates to our industry and hire them, train them, and retain them? Necessity is requiring companies to get creative to address these challenges. In this discussion, we will explore innovative ways to compete for and win this competition for talent.

Creating a Workplace of Inclusion and Belonging
Speaker: Jessie Lockhart, Senior Director, Talent Management
Date: Thursday, July 14, 12:00 – 12:30 PM
Location: Workforce Development Stage, Development Pavilion, Moscone South
Session overview: Attracting and retaining talent in the semiconductor industry has never been more challenging. McKinsey’s latest research confirms there are several critical aspects of employee experience – especially around feeling valued, feeling a sense of belonging and connection – that are what matters most to employees. This session highlights proactive, inclusive practices that lead to a sense of belonging and connection for employees, which ultimately improves an organization’s ability to retain and attract talent.

Panel: Venture Capital Discussion
Speaker: Faran Nouri, Vice President, Strategic Development and Global Head of Lam Capital
