This July, Lam Research Korea (LRK) celebrated its 25th anniversary. Reaching this significant milestone is a great time to reflect on how our Korea regional offices have changed over the years.
Looking back to 1989, when LRK was founded, we had just 12 employees in the region. Today, our Korea offices boast more than 400 employees from multiple countries who collectively provide a wide range of business and technical expertise. We have expanded to several offices located in Cheongju, Hwaseong, Icheon, and Seongnam and also have manufacturing capability in Korea. The extensive presence we have in the region today is critical since Korea is home to several leading chipmakers. Thanks to this infrastructure and ongoing collaboration with our product teams and other groups, LRK has built long-standing trusted relationships with several key Korean customers that help drive our mutual success.
To deliver on customer commitments, LRK employees work very hard. At the same time, they try to maintain a healthy work-life (or life-work!) balance and want their office to be a fun place to work. For example, the “Fun Makers” program was started in 2006 and has organized volunteer activities such as food and blood drives, street cleanups, and making kimchi for senior citizens. By reaching out and helping their communities, employees find they share a greater sense of camaraderie.
Our Korea offices also enjoy the stability of a familiar team of co-workers. Based on comments from employees, it appears they tend to stay a long time, in part because they appreciate LRK’s supportive work environment. The company’s Core Values, which address important work ethics and treatment of others, are another key reason they enjoy working at Lam and are proud to be part of the company. Here are some perspectives employees have shared:
Though many things have changed over the past 25 years, the customer focus, hard work, and teamwork that helped us achieve success early on are among the values that continue to guide us today.
