The COVID-19 headlines we see coming out of India are heart wrenching. I know that we are all thinking of our colleagues, friends, and family in India during this period of crisis. An important part of Lam’s philanthropic strategy is to support our communities in times of need, and so our corporate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) team has been working together with our Lam team on the ground in India to determine how we can make a meaningful impact in the fight against COVID.

I am pleased to announce that we are directing $1M from Lam’s COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Fund to support local efforts in Bangalore, and the Direct Relief organization. Funds to Direct Relief will support the organization’s efforts across India, which include providing oxygen concentrators and other critical medical supplies to health care providers in communities across the region. We are also offering a 2-for-1 matching gift campaign for monetary donations made by our employees to eligible COVID-19 relief programs supporting India.

Our Core Values speak to our desire as a company to hold ourselves to a high standard. Donating funds to a crisis is an important demonstration of who we are and the impact we can make together.

I am proud to be part of a company that plays a crucial, positive role on the world stage — not only through our innovation and impact in our industry, but as citizens of a global society. To our Lam colleagues in India, on behalf of everyone at Lam, we wish you health, safety, and strength during these trying times.

Stacey MacNeil is Lam’s chief communications officer, responsible for branding; media relations; global employee communications; corporate and digital marketing; environmental, social, and governance; and community engagement.
