Building Chips a Few Atoms at a Time

Did you know we’re building semiconductor chips with atoms? The tiny features on advanced devices are getting so small that atomic-scale processes are needed to produce them. And at this scale, every atom matters.

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) and atomic layer etch (ALE) use cycles of multi-step processes to deposit or remove a few atomic layers at a time, providing chipmakers with the process control needed for next-generation device manufacturing.
