Corporate, Life at Lam

Often called the “Silicon Valley of India,” Bangalore is home to that country’s information technology industry. Since 2000, it has also been the home of Lam Research India, which was first established for software development and support. In addition, since our India office business hours complement those of North America, the Bangalore location allows us to provide 24-hour software support for global customers.

Today our Bangalore office also provides hardware and software engineering design services and plays a strategic role as part of our Product Engineering and Global Operations teams. In fact, Lam India employees have contributed to a number of patent application filings over the past several years. Together, these important activities help support Lam’s vision to provide fast solutions and best-in-class products and services.

One way our employees in India continue to hone their skills is by participating in a job rotation program with our North America offices. As part of Lam’s focus on continuous training and development worldwide, the program is among many opportunities that are good for both the company and employees.

Keeping pace with Bangalore’s reputation as a high-technology hub, Lam’s regional office also focuses on developing collaborative partnerships with local technical institutions and industry consortia. For example, we are an industrial affiliate of the Indian Institute of Science’s Centre for Nano Science and Engineering and a member of the Indian Electronic and Semiconductor Association (IESA). In addition, we are planning internship programs for 2015 with local universities, including the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore.

Nearly 15 years after opening our Bangalore office to provide expert software development and support, the region has emerged as a key contributor in developing innovative and rapid solutions for our customers.
